Worship of Crows “Kaag Tihar” काग तिहार: FESTIVALS OF NEPAL |
Nepali festival to worship crows is this Friday, October 28th. Tihar, the second biggest Hindu festival of Nepal starts by worshipping crows. On this day, various types of foods are arrayed on the roofs of homes as offerings to crows. Crows are considering divine messengers of Yamraj, the lord and judge of the dead. Thus crows are worshipped. Hindus give a lot of significance to this day's rituals. Common Hindu beliefs: "Ancestors come in the form of crows." By feeding the crows they in turn carry the food to our dead ancestors. This practice is also known as Shradh "श्राद्ध." Another popular belief among Nepalese/Hindus is that when a crow makes sound in a house then you are most likely to get guests. Most intelligent Bird! Study shows crows grow their kids in an orderly manner and live in unity. May be a lesson for humans?
